Mike Burns
EVP of Operations
Mike Burns is the Executive Vice President of Operations for Emerald Transformer, the largest transformer services company in the US. Mike believes that driving value and customer satisfaction comes only through a philosophy of continuous improvement. With 20 years of experience in project management, team building, and operations management in the manufacturing, production, and repair settings, Mike has a proven track record of success and strong relationship building skills.
Mike is also the principal designer and architect of Emerald Transformer’s proprietary software, created to increase efficiency, streamline processes, track metrics, and provide operational insight to assist in strategic decision making throughout the company. In his first year at Emerald, Mike implemented a Lean Flow approach, which increased overall production at the Florida operation by 17% by identifying inefficiencies in the plant layout and employee steps taken to retrieve items needed on their line.
Prior to his time at Emerald Transformer, Mike worked in the orthopedic manufacturing industry. His accomplishments include developing new production lines, improving efficiency in production by implementing ideals emanated from the Toyota Production System, such as Lean Flow, Just-in-Time manufacturing, and a Kanban system for inventory, and helping to establish new major overseas accounts.
